Following the success of their cold pressed dog food range, Walker & Drake has launched an innovative new product specially designed for dogs with food allergies and intolerances – Dual Protein.

Normal kibble dog food is pressure steam cooked at very high temperatures and then baked to remove moisture which results in it losing many of the nutrients.  Cold pressed dog food is made by cooking the ingredients at a  lower temperature to retain the nutrients and then drying , mixing and pressing them .  This results in something that looks a little different - more like the pellets you get to feed sheep or deer at animal parks than a traditional kibble.  The pellets are much more dense than regular kibble which means it looks like there's not much in your dog's bowl but as long as you weigh out the food you can ensure your dog is still receiving the same amount of food.

The cold pressing method means vegetables and botanicals that might normally lose their nutritional benefits can be included and our test dog certainly seemed to feel the benefits - he was always quick to clear his bowl and had plenty of energy whilst on this food.  This is a premium dog food which is reflected in the price however, in our opinion, the additional benefits justify the cost.
