Mars Petcare raises awareness of skilled rescue dogs in light of Crufts
In a lively display of camaraderie, furry residents at Cotswolds Dogs & Cats Home are rallying behind their fellow rescue dogs who are set to shine at this year's Crufts. To cheer on and show their support for their fellow furry friends, the team have set-up and hosted a charming mini Crufts style show of their very own.
Inspired by the remarkable journeys of rescue dogs, Beau, Buddy and Indie, who are set to take centre stage at Crufts later this week, The Adoption Mission programme from Mars Petcare partnered with Cotswolds Dogs & Cats Home to host the ultimate Crufts celebration. Their shared mission is to inspire more people to consider adoption and help the dogs still in their care find new loving homes.
The rescue pooches at Cotswolds Dogs & Cats Home definitely stole the spotlight as they manoeuvred through agility courses, took part in their own awards ceremony, and enjoyed lots of tasty Mars Petcare treats – to fuel their spirited participation.
Haley Medlock, Fundraising Manager, from Cotswolds Dogs & Cats Home, commented: "It's amazing to see rescue dogs showcasing their talents on the grand stage of Crufts. I hope this helps to challenge common misconceptions and showcase just how amazing rescue dogs are. With this incredible display we want to encourage more people to adopt and discover firsthand the extraordinary abilities and joy these deserving canines bring to our lives.
"We're so grateful to The Adoption Mission programme and for their continued support in helping us to nurture and look after the pets currently in our care. They cannot wait to find their forever homes and we look forward to hopefully matching them with their perfect families soon."
Re-enforcing again how rescue dogs can go on to do great things if given the chance is Trevor, who was found roaming the streets before being taken in by The Rescue Hotel who is also part of The Adoption Mission programme. Trevor was thankfully adopted and competed on the Rally Obedience Interregional team representing Wales at Crufts.
Laura Vallance, spokesperson for The Adoption Mission programme at Mars Petcare, added: "Our recent State of Pet Homelessness Report sadly shows there are still over a million cats and dogs in the UK that currently find themselves without a home. We know that only half of people contemplating getting a dog (58 per cent) would consider re-homing from a rescue centre meaning many animals still face a long wait to find their forever home.
"As part of The Adoption Mission programme, we're committed to helping end pet homelessness. We hope these inspiring stories from Beau, Buddy, Indie, and Trevor show that rescue animals make amazing pets and are capable of wonderful things when they're given the love, time, and patience to shine."
