Google search data revealed a 350% rise in searches for 'dog friendly UK stays' in the last 5 years. Of the eight popular UK holiday destinations analysed, the luxury Lake District accommodation provider analysed four integral factors (pet friendly accommodation, walking trails, vet availability, and dog friendly pubs) to reveal the most dog friendly stays for the Summer.

  1. Cornwall

Coming in first was Cornwall, with an overall score of 2.4. Award winning for its dog friendliness, the result came as no surprise, with 173 talking trails available to explore. When it's time to recharge, enjoy one of the 161 dog friendly pubs around the area. With its stunning coastline, picturesque fishing villages, and rich cultural heritage, Cornwall beckons travellers seeking both relaxation and adventure with their canine companions.

  1. Yorkshire Dales

The Dales came a close second at 2.3 with vast expanses of open moorland, rugged hills, and meandering rivers; the Dales offer endless opportunities for exploration with your pet. There are hundreds of dog friendly accommodations in the area, ranging from charming bed and breakfasts to traditional country inns. When visiting, be sure to hit any of the 473 trails together, from the iconic Yorkshire Three Peaks to the tranquil paths around Malham Tarn.

  1. Lake District

Reigning bronze is none other than the Lake District. Lace up your boots and set off on one of the countless walking trails that crisscross this beautiful region to take in panoramic views of shimmering lakes, towering mountains, and lush valleys. With an abundance of dog-friendly pubs and cafes scattered throughout the region you can rest assured that your furry friend will be well catered to.

"Our research reaffirms what we've known all along; that the appeal of the Lakes extends far beyond its natural beauty and demonstrates true dog friendliness in all aspects of staycationing in the UK," says Dan Fairweather, General Manager at Windermere Marina Village

"We've recently introduced our 'Pooch Pack' with every dog friendly booking - containing Sir Woofchester's Sunday Roast Pot and branded dog bag dispenser and sacks. Ensuring a warm welcome for both two-legged and four-legged guests is not just a courtesy. It's a commitment to creating truly memorable experiences for all who visit."
