REVIEW: Woov heated dog bed
Meet Benjamin. Despite being an ex rufty-tufty working Springer Spaniel, Benjamin has a tendency to get cold and shivery when in the boot of the car after a wet walk. We tried several ideas to keep Benjamin warm including turning the heating up uncomfortably warm in the car and putting him in a doggy fleece but nothing really did the job. So, when offered the chance to try a Woov heated dog bed it seemed to be the ideal solution.
The Woov is a cordless heated dog bed powered by a rechargeable battery which will last up to 6 hours. It is available in two variants – a woolly version which is warm & soft and feels like sheepskin and an outdoor version which is a robust fabric which is dirt and UV resistant. The woolly is available in graphite and the outdoor is available in a choice of three colours – grey, black and taupe. All covers are removable and can be machine washed.
The Woov has three different power levels (32oC, 37oC and 42oC) which are easily selected using the button on the tag and the battery gives 3 hours, 2 hours or 1.5 hours of heat depending on the setting. For an extra £25 the battery can be upgraded to a higher capacity which gives 6 hours, 4 hours or 3 hours of heat.
On first inspection the bed feels well made, is well cushioned for your pets comfort and (for the outdoor version we tested) feels like it should stand up to the rigours of being used by a wet and muddy Springer. We tested the grey bed and, although ours lives in the boot of the car, it wouldn’t look out of place in a living room. The infrared heating element can be felt between the casing and the cushion but not to an extent that would affect the beds comfort.
This review was written in March 2024 which was a month of almost constant rain so the bed was given a real test and it didn’t disappoint. Despite getting extremely wet and muddy as only a Springer can, we never saw any shivering while Benjamin was using the bed and he was always keen to get on it and reluctant to get off it once we got home!
