Whoops! Barney's little accident watched by millions
A dog food marketing video has gone viral after its makers failed to spot the star having a cheeky pee on camera.
Four month old Labrador puppy Barney was starring in the video for dog food brand Years.com when he was caught short and ended up peeing on a sofa while the presenter carried on talking to the camera, completely oblivious.
Despite being surrounded by humans no one spotted Barney's mishap and the video was used to promote Years.com dog food across their social media platforms.
It was only when customers began reacting to the three minute video with laughing emojis that the team at Years.com spotted Barney's little accident.
Emily then created a much shorter nine second video to highlight Barney's mishap with this reaching more than 2.2m views on TikTok alone - making it by far the brand's most popular marketing video.
Following the discovery Barney, from Nottingham, was banned from starring in further videos until he was fully toilet trained.
Now he is seven months old and his owner Tayla Bexton has promised Years.com bosses it won't happen again.
Tayla, who works as an executive assistant at Years.com said: "The video was posted a week before we realised and it was a complete and utter shock when I saw he'd peed during the take and no one spotted it.
"The marketing team wouldn't have posted it if they'd noticed, they'd have just shot it again. But everyone here has seen the funny side.
"Barney is a real softie, we call him our little weener, he's always at my feet, if I get up so does he. He's a bit silly and a plonker, if you throw a ball in one direction he will run in the opposite whilst looking up.
"He loves swimming, he's a fabulous dog around our four-year-old Molly who absolutely adores him. They're best friends. He's also fantastic with people and loves to play with and annoy other dogs.
"He's got no idea that a video of him peeing has been seen by 2m people but I doubt he'd be embarrassed even if he did understand.
"He's fully toilet trained now thankfully so he's safe to appear on camera again although I've not been bringing him to work so much recently as I'm super busy and he's a cute distraction."
The video's co-star and presenter Emily Selberis said she was shocked she'd failed to notice Barney peeing until after the video went live.
The animal mad social media manager said: "The video got to 1m views within 24 hours and we thought it was just down to how cute Barney is. It was a week later when another team member spotted the real reason after reading some of the comments on the video.
"So it was a very delayed reaction but we were equally humoured and horrified that the stale pee had been marinating for five days."
